Why 15th September is Celebrated as the Engineers’ Day

Everyone belonging to the engineering field, including the members of our best private engineering college in Jabalpur celebrate 15th September to honor the birth anniversary of a legendary engineer Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. Abbreviated as Sir M. Visvesvaraya, he is recognized as a foremost engineer of India. Today, we acknowledge his valuable contributions in the field of engineering and in building the nation. Moreover, as the member of a leading private engineering college in Jabalpur, we recognize the vital roles played or continuously playing in the development of our country. 

Notable Achievements of Sir M. Visvesvaraya as the Foremost Engineer of India

Sir M. Visvesvaraya has an immense legacy and one can see his contributions in several engineering reforms. However, a few of his notable achievements include the following-

·       Sir M. Visvesvaraya was the chief engineer of the famous Krishna Raja Sagara Dam, which was a large water reservoir of Asia during that time.

·       Sir Visvesvaraya designed an innovative automatic weir water floodgates’ system and later patented it under his name.

·       Sir M. Visvesvaraya showed his valuable contribution for designing an effective flood protection system for Hyderabad.

Other Achievements and Contributions of Sir M. Visvesvaraya

Other than engineering projects, Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya had his visionary for the establishment of several educational institutes, banks, and industries to modernize India. He received Bharat Ratna Award in 1955. According to us, “Birthday of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya is an inspiration to every engineer and reminds the power of his professional to shape the modern society and drive significance progress.”
