Depending on the breed and size of the animals, they may travel as checked baggage or be transported by American Airlines Pet Policy. Available pets are limited to cats and dogs that meet size, age and destination requirements.
We accept checked-in pets only for U.S. military personnel and U.S. Department of State Foreign Service personnel traveling by official order. Fees and restrictions apply. Fully trained service dogs can fly without a cabin if they meet the requirements.
Animals in cabins

You can take 1 piece of carry-on baggage on US flights if:
You pay the animal transport costs
Your pet remains in the kennel and under the seat in front of you for the entire flight.
You can travel with your pet carrier and 1 personal item, but you will not be allowed to bring any bags other than the pet carrier and your personal items. Instead, the kennel will replace your carry-on baggage.
